The McRae-Helena Firefighters Association held its annual golf tournament at Little Ocmulgee State Park recently. According to event planners this year's tournament saw better participation than ever before with 23 teams competing in the popular spring event.
"This is the largest turnout we have ever had team wise," says McRae-Helena Fire Department (MHFD) Assistant Chief and Training Officer Greg Young.
The Colony Supply team of Russell Owens, Jerry Calhoun and Ted Calhoun took home the first place award in the contest. The second place team winners were Wayne Hutcheson, Dickie Horton, Charles Cook and Clay Coleman for Peach Audio, Video and Lighting and third place honors for the day went to the team of Mike Young, Kristen Holland, Brock Williams and Scott Williams.
MHFD officials were ecstatic with the success of the event and were quick to celebrate the sponsors who helped to make it all come together.
"We had 72 businesses help sponsor the event," says Young. "Special thanks to the seven of those sponsors who were corporate level which includes a team and hole sponsorship."
The seven corporate sponsors for the firefighter's golf tournament were Georgia Power, Colony Supply, Cook Petro, Jeff Smith Chevrolet, McRae Manor Nursing Home, Ten-8 Fire Equipment, and Woodmen of the World.
"Also, thanks to Dairy Queen for donating the food for the day and Coca-Cola for donating the drinks," adds Young. "Thanks to Wallace Adams Golf Course and its employees for assisting us with making the tournament a success."
"The McRae-Helena Firefighters Association would like to thank everyone who sponsored and/or participated in our tournament in anyway. The continuous support that we receive annually is appreciated greatly. We hope to continue making the tournament larger and more successful every year." - McRae-Helena Firefighters Association.
