Overview

The City of McRae-Helena Fire Department is a combination department with a total of 4 full-time and 21 volunteer firefighters that serve both the City of McRae-Helena along with the citizens of Telfair and surrounding counties.

Calls & Services

The department receives an average of 450 emergency calls per year. We respond to:

  • Structure fires
  • Brush fires
  • Vehicle fires
  • Motor vehicle accidents (with and without extrication)
  • Any other emergencies where our services are needed to assist citizens

The department also assists Telfair EMS with emergency medical calls.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the McRae-Helena Fire Department to provide the citizens of McRae-Helena and surrounding communities with professional services dedicated to promote life safety while also reducing property loss and environmental impacts. We will rely on professional development and our core values to guide us in the services we provide. 

Our scope of practice includes but is not limited to:

  • Fire suppression
  • Fire prevention education
  • Basic medical care
  • Applicable technical rescue disciplines
  • Any other way we may benefit anyone in need
