Licenses

The City of McRae-Helena requires all businesses to apply annually for a business license, and if you serve or sell alcohol, you will also need an alcohol license.

Business Licenses

If you are looking to open a new business in McRae-Helena, please refer to our new business checklist which lists all the steps required to establish a new commercial endeavor. The most important step to complete first is to verify appropriate zoning and code compliance prior to any investment. For more information about the zoning classification of a property, refer to the zoning map and ordinance or contact City Hall.

The cost of the business license is determined by the business class and profitability ratio, plus a $50 administrative fee. Business classes are determined by the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). License renewals and fees are due each year by March 31.

Alcohol Licenses

Alcohol licenses must be renewed each year by November 15th. Licenses renewed between November 15 and December 15 will be assessed a five percent (5%) penalty. Applications submitted after December 15 will be treated as first time applications (not renewals) and will have to meet all requirements of a new application.
